some photos taken today, March 1, 2010, in the area of \u200b\u200bMusile di Piave (VE), documenting the environmental destruction that is happening along the floodplain of the river Piave, after a regional project against flood risk on the usefulness of which I have very strong doubts, and I'm not alone, as evidenced by the articles in the Gazzettino di Venezia, which link under the photo (just click to enlarge).
I find it very disturbing that an intervention of this kind of deforestation extends to the mouth of the river Piave, transforming the floodplain in a long and mestissimo graveyard of trees, as you can see from these few photos.
Among the trees knocked down I found this sign, that I took pictures because I can make us reflect on what is subtracted from the public, this action, in addition to ' immeasurable intrinsic value of the trees : a long pedestrian path, bicycle and equestrian , reported including in many tourist guides, the decimation of the trees abbruttirĂ , make dull and much less enjoyable and meaningful.
This path should be regarded as a flagship of who administers the territory, and instead is disfigured him on very questionable: other upstream interventions would certainly more effective flood.
Here's what it says:
Veneto Region, the European Community.
of Park riverside f iume Piave.
pedestrian path, c iclabile and equestrian.
The sign is dated 1994: at that time probably thought of this park as a resource for citizens, while the region has now apparently changed his mind ...
I am more than convinced that break down these trees will not help to stop any flooding of the river ; instead worsen the quality of life of citizens abbruttendo and impoverishing the country.
Among the prohibitions to protect the park there is also the sacrosanct prohibition to harm the plant species : ago really angry to see this rule violated today by the same institution that had established in 1994. Veneto Region, the European Community.

Less trees = less barriers against pollution, fewer animals, depletion of biodiversity University.
And I close the post with a couple of links to articles of Gazzettino out these days: Sunday, 21/02/2010
